Five things I do for fun.

I taught myself how to do most of these! My cousins taught me the basic crochet and knitting stitches. My mom taught me to cook at age 12. By age 13, I was cooking whole meals for my mom, my brothers and I.
Sewing:
I can embroider and I can crossstitch (I taught myself that also). However, I didn’t know how to sew on a sewing machine. I owned one for many years and it stayed in the box. I was too intimidated. One day I emboldened myself and took it out of the box. I promised I would learn how to sew!! I watched YouTube tutorials as to how to thread the machine. Also, how to stitch and how to troubleshoot the machine.

I happened upon a video about the “Little Dresses for Africa” Charity. This is where people sew little pillowcase dresses or t-shirt dresses and they are sent to Africa for little girls. Being the over achiever that I am, I challenged myself to make 100 little dresses.

If figured by the time I make 100 dresses I would have somewhat mastered sewing on the sewing machine . I have made 77 dresses thus far. I added a frill to my dresses in true diva style. I want my little girls to look fly!!
I hug each and every one of my dresses and hope that the little girl who receives it would feel the love and care that I poured into it.
Quilting:
I recently started quilting. As with many of my projects I give them away to friends and family. This time my son admonished me and told me his quilt should be done first. I obliged him!

(I didn’t quilt the top, that skill is still loading)
